There will be one or more used PLEK BASIC machines for sale in the US and in Europe. The PLEK BASIC is the predecessor of our current technology and is still used for guitar setup in many repair shops world wide.
The main difference to the current generation of PLEK machines is not so much a matter of precision and quality, but rather one of speed and cycle times. While the PLEK PRO and STATION are using a carbide steel cutter blade for leveling and crowning the frets, the BASIC will sand the frets with a hard rubber abrasive wheel. There is even something unique to the PLEK BASIC: it polishes the frets, using a felt wheel, so that there's no manual fret polishing required after the machine process. To plek an average guitar on the PLEK BASIC takes 45 - 90 minutes, dependent on the condition of the neck and the amount of fret wear. The operator does not need to watch the machine operation though, the main leveling process runs automatically.
