Fit for Fretless: our new "Builder's Toolkit"

Plek - in cooperation with Kuhlo Guitars - are proud to announce the release of our latest software plugin for Plek Pro and Plek Station machines - the "Builder's Toolkit", which can be used to cut slots and designs into fingerboards.

Cutting can also be performed for fret slots as well as for nut and bridge work, inlays and dots, meaning that luthiers can use this software tool to pre-edit and exactly combine all the important parameters such as fretboard radius, scale, string position, nut and bridge positioning. An additional option is to cut the fret slots for new fretboards in such a way that the edges of the fretboard remain untouched (natural bindings) rather than the traditional method of fret slot cutting which completely cuts through the sides of the fretboard.

The result is that even guitars without bindings feel smooth to the touch - depending on whether the fret ends have been rounded off properly - something that PlekHaus and Kuhlo Guitars still do by hand.
